Chiller's zombie double feature and a cocktail

Those of us living in Los Angeles encounter a zombie apocalypse on a daily basis; hoards of mindless people staggering across intersections, random acts of violence, unintelligible speech and dirty, decrepit men chasing after hot young women. It’s also called driving through Hollywood. As highly entertaining a spectator sport as that is, if this isn’t the kind of zombie action you’re looking for I have just the thing. Chiller TV continues Zombie Week with yet another double feature of zombie goodness. Packed with spurting blood and lots of mutilated bodies, watching these two B movies is not a complete waste of a Wednesday night. Especially if you throw in a few Redneck Zombie cocktails.

The Killing Strain. Screened at LA’s ScreamFest in 2010 and then straight to video, The Killing Strain is yet another version of man’s deliberate attempt to resurrect the dead. This time it’s for love as a scientist tries to bring his wife back to life. He’s successful but then she eats him. It isn’t long before she infects more people and the swine-flu based virus spreads through Southern Texas. An eclectic (and slightly dim-witted) group of survivors hide out in a large farm house and wage war against the zombies.

The Signal. Did your mother ever tell you that watching too much TV would rot your brain? Well, in The Signal, it sends people on killing sprees. It all starts as bad cell, TV and radio reception and the longer the potential victims try to correct the problem, the more under the influence of the deadly signal they become. While driven to kill, these zombies still function normally and attempt witty banter amongst each other. Transmitted in three stages the signal taps into deep seated emotions like jealousy and hatred and forces people to act on impulse with deadly results.
