The 2012/2013 Children’s Series at the Covedale Center for the Performing Arts continues this Saturday at 11:00 a.m., when the Bright Star Touring Company’s African Folktales will be presented.
Featuring storyteller Akili, the show includes traditional African tales that have been passed down by word of mouth for centuries. Performers bring to life the clever animals and exotic locales of the continent of Africa for theater-goers of every age. The show is a celebration of the culture, art, and literature of Africa, presented to capture the imagination of children and adults. The show is particularly aimed at giving kids from preschool age to grade 5 an intriguing introduction to live theatre and African storytelling.
The Covedale’s Children’s Series continues on Saturday, April 27, with The Frisch Marionettes and their production of Rumpelstiltskin. All tickets are $5 for the Children’s Series shows. The current production at the Covedale Center for the Performing Arts, the 1960s jukebox musical Why Do Fools Fall in Love, continues its run until March 24, with Thursday, Friday, and Saturday performances at 8:00 p.m., and Sunday matinees are at 2:00 p.m. Tickets for Why Do Fools Fall in Love are $23 for adults and $20 for seniors and students and can be purchased online (ticket fees apply) or by calling the box office at 513-241-6550.
