It is one of the most popular exhibits at the Children’s Museum of Cleveland…it is of course the WCMC Weather Studio. After an extensive upgrade there will be a grand revealing on October 26 and 27, 2013.
The WCMC Weather Studio was created and automated by Rockwell Automation and features all the cool stuff you would find in a real weather TV studio including Green screen technology, current weather information, interactive touch screens and loads of maps.
Museum guests are invited to work together and become meteorologists, news casters and producers while bringing live weather reports to their families as well as other museum guests.
The weather studio is a full studio experience with participants able to choose different seasons, maps and live weather situations right here in Cleveland as well as realistic effects of video, sound and wind. The control panels are touch screen sensitive and include text and educational reading support and are available in five different languages including: English, Spanish, French, Chinese and Hindi.
Along with the exhibit, the Children’s Museum of Cleveland has developed accompanying educational and interpretive programming that is available to the general public as well as visiting school groups that is specific to the science of weather forcasting and broadcasting.
