Children’s Festival in Frederick

Today, April 26, marks Frederick, Maryland’s Annual Children’s Festival. A community tradition spanning more than two decades, this year’s 25th installment promises to be a fun, festive, family-oriented event that celebrates children.

This free festival will be packed with entertainment and activities throughout the day, starting at 3 p.m. and running until 3 p.m. Entertainment at the Bandshell will be on-going with music and dancing from Kinderdance, Elower-Sicilia, the Let There Be Rock School Frederick, Dance Unlimited, 24/7 Dance Studio, the Frederick Regional Youth Orchestra and String Ensemble and To the Pointe Studio of Dance. There will also be a karate demonstration by Kicks Karate.

Various activities booths will be booming with activities sure to provide education as well as excitement. Special mascot friends will be walking about to meet and greet children. Some of the mascot pals to be in attendance include Wally the Walrus, Skate Frederick Sneaks, Frederick County Public Library and Cleats the Kangaroo, Frederick Indoor Sports Center.

Some of the activities children will enjoy include: Newspaper Seed Pots, Paper Plate Rainbow Kites and Bubble Painting, Sensory Bottles & Treasure Hunt, Creative Legos; Brown Bag Kites; Japanese Windsocks, Bright Eyes Bear Toss, Flamingo Duck Pond, Tap Dancing, Create your own I Spy, Ladybug Craft and Playdough Play, Dance & Gymnastics, Bird Seed Table , GOOP!, 10 & Under Tennis, Noodle Necklaces, Bottle Ring Toss, Instrument Petting Zoo, Build a Great Plate, Ball Run, Bubbles, Face Painting, Foam Critter Magnets (for the refrigerator), BRACElet making, Horse Shoe Decorating, Sensory Table Exploration, learning about bugs, the Safety Game Wheel and much, much more. As children explore the countless hands-on activities and entertainments, parents can obtain information at various booths, talk to professionals and learn more about local early childhood programs and other services.

Great food vendors will be about, on site throughout Baker Park, where the festival will be held. So families can stay the entire day with fun, fun, activities and educational pursuits.

Sponsors for the Children’s Festival include: Child Care Choices, a program of the Mental Health Association of Frederick County, the Interagency Early Childhood Committee and the City of Frederick.
