Wake up call to all parents. This is something that you need to be aware of as a parent. Apple is refunding at least $32.5 million in app case. Parents were putting in their passwords for one transaction but they weren’t aware that the window would stay active and open for the child to continue to buy thing for 15min. after the first purchases.

One parent reported that their child spent $2,600 on one app per CNN Money “Apple to refund millions for kids’ in-app purchases”. These purchases were anywhere from $.99 to $99.99 per purchase.

“You cannot charge consumers for purchases they did not authorize” said Edith Ramirez, the federal trade commission chairwoman.

Apple has until March 31 to change the way their billing system works so that they have the consumer’s permission before the in-app purchase takes place. Parents need to keep updated as to how the billing process works on all devises. Be aware of what your children are doing on their electronical devises or it could cost you a great deal of money.
