According to an August 19 article in the Huffington Post; 57,000 kids have been cut from the Head Start program due to sequestration. Sequestration will also lead to salary reductions for 18,000 employees, and 18,000 fewer school hours. The article goes on to say that the cuts were designed to keep as many students in the program as possible.
Sequestration, according to Wikipedia, is the activation of a number of cuts to Federal programs. The cuts are triggered if the Congress is unable to pass an operating budget. The sequestration would last for a decade, and potentially impact the growth of 750,000 jobs; according to the Congressional Budget office.
Critics viewed the sequestration as necessary; but viewed the impact it’s had on children as indefensible.
“The Holy Bible mentions (according to Wiki Answers) child or children over 2,500 times. It outlines how they are to be raised. It instructs us to share with them all God has done for us.it does not permit or allow them to do without. Our children learned a new bad word today: sequestration.”
The Holy Bible also teaches parents and adults not to provoke children; because provocation will lead to discouragement.
Research shows that a $1 dollar investment in early education may lead to a $7 decrease in public assistance and criminal justice programs.
