Last week the story of a 12-year-old girl chucking a stolen kitten in front of a moving vehicle caused a riff in the feline world. Cat lovers were angry and astonished by the sheer hate that this child possessed – especially when she was interviewed and specifically stated that if she was given another opportunity, she would do it again!
After researching this story, more and more similar incidents popped up on the radar. Children are killing and maiming kittens. Something is amiss and we need to get to the bottom of it!
Take for instance the two 15-year-old girls from South Portland, Maine that posted a video of them putting a kitten in a microwave – and turning it on! It wasn’t enough for the girls to commit the act, but to literally brag about their cruel and unusual actions on Twitter was just too much to bear!
The girls both faced animal cruelty charges, but is this enough to stop them from committing such a malicious act against a living being again? It is still such a wonder that females are capable of such hate!
Later there was question as to whether the video was a hoax, but a hoax of this magnitude is not funny whatsoever! Children that think in these terms have deeper issues that need to be resolved before someone or something else gets hurt!
The next case brought to the forefront was about the shooting of an eight-week-old kitten that had to be euthanized afterward on Long Island. The kitten had to be euthanized because the kitten was paralyzed from the waist down and had no use of its bladder.
How many adults go around with pellet guns and shoot things, so although no one was actually cited in this case, one has to wonder if a younger person was involved here, too. The progression from animals to humans has been linked, so this case is very scary indeed for shooting an innocent baby animal may not prove sport, but the thinking is that this person could potentially escalate from here.
A third case investigated earlier this year was about a one-pound kitten that had been doused in gasoline and left to die on the Philadelphia streets. Again, another senseless act of cruelty!
This kitten suffered second and third degree burns after being lit up and let go near McPherson Square Park. Thankfully a good citizen got the flames out and got the kitten some help. The kitten’s ears had to be amputated as a result of the burns.
Again, whether this was an adult or a child, it was cruel and the actions could escalate. It is certainly scary that a human being of any age could even conjure up such actions!
Kitties beware, there are some really scary people out there. Halloween time is also a time to look out as the cruel and unusual seem to eek their way out of the woodwork. Feline lovers need to watch out for their furry fluff balls as to avoid these situations with their beloved pet.
