Five boys ranging in ages from 7 to 12 years of age were caught on a surveillance video abusing a two-month-old kitten. Her lifeless body was discovered floating in a swimming pool by the maintenance worker of a mobile park in Chandler on Oct. 14, reported ktar.com. Four of the boys were arrested Sunday morning.
Police Sgt. Joe Favazzo reported the disturbing video showed five boys kicking and hitting the defenseless kitten who tried in vain to escape. A sixth child was at the scene, but did not participate in the heinous crime.
According to myfoxphoeniz, the video showed the boys on a playground off Arizona Ave. playing with a puppy and a tiny white kitten on a slide. When the puppy is pushed onto the kitten, the torture began. The boys then threw a soccer ball at the kitten and repeatedly slammed the kitten to the ground.
When the children finished abusing the kitten, they threw her stunned, limp body over a fence into the swimming pool.
Four of the boys were finally arrested, and now face animal cruelty charges. The seven-year-old child is too young to be arrested under Arizona law.
"I can't even fathom someone beating up an eight-week-old kitten. I see these kids as future sociopaths; starting at these ages and already torturing defenseless animals. Watch out world; here comes Jeffrey Dahmer again or another tragedy like Columbine," stated Peggy Hughes of Palm Beach County, Fla.
The boys face felony animal cruelty charges. The youths were taken to the juvenile detention center in Mesa.
