Child with brain injury needs help for his dogs

If you had to make a choice over keeping your dogs or helping your child, we all know which you would choose.  But, when you chose something that affects your dogs, how will you handle it?  Do you simply discard them or do you care enough to want the very best for them?

A local Kansas City woman is fighting to make sure that her son's dogs will be waiting for him to come home.  For months Christy has been contacting animal rescue groups in Missouri and Oklahoma, all in an attempt to keep her 2 beloved dogs.  She's been posting on Craigslist repeatedly, only to have her posts flagged and removed from the site.  If she cares so much, why leave her dogs in the first place?

Christy's 2 year-old son has a severe and debilitating brain injury and they have been given an opportunity they just couldn't pass up.  For at least 6 to 9 months, Christy and her son will be relocating to Tulsa, Oklahoma so her son can receive special therapy to help him overcome the obstacles in his life.  While they have all of the details for the temporary relocation figured out, the one thing that leaves Christy in tears every night is the worry that tonight will be the night that she must have her sister come and get Shylow and Chance and take them to the shelter.  Christy just can't bring herself to let her son's precious dogs end up with that fate.

Christy has until Monday, February 20th to find a temporary foster for Shylow and Chance.  Ideally, she would like to find them a place by this evening.  She wants to be able to have her dogs when she returns home but if it comes down to it and she must adopt them out, she will.

Shylow just celebrated his 4th birthday on Valentine's Day.  She is a Beagle-Chow mix who is spayed and current on her shots.  She's estimated to be between 50-60 pounds.  Shylow is at risk of depression because she is very attached to Christy's son so she will need someone who understands that.

Chance is a King Charles Cavalier who found herself thrown out of a vehicle just last November.  Thankfully, Christy picked Chance up and took her home.  She's estimated to be about a year and a half and she too, is spayed and up to date on her shots.  Chance is very timid and has not learned how to use a leash, even after numerous attempts.
