The great depression was a time where smiles were scarce and people certainly didn't feel like singing about animal crackers in soup. However, when Shirley Temple, at the age of 4 made her big debut, people couldn't help but smile. It comes with a heavy heart to announce that the curly haired American cutie was pronounced dead on February 10, 2014 at the age of 85.

Shirley was known as perhaps the most famous child star, and not just the most famous child star of the 30's either. Shirley delighted many with her curly hair, cute smile, and sweet voice. A statement from her family in Woodside California announced that Shirley died at home as “She was surrounded by her family and caregivers.” The cause of death is not at the moment clear. Shirley will forever be remembered as America's cutie, and the most famous child star to ever be in the lime light. Her fame is sure to live on from the grave.

Rest In Peace Shirley

May you sail on the good ship lollipop.
