An Upper Darby, Pa. man police have been searching for since 2012 on child sexual abuse charges, surrendered to authorities on April 2 after being accused of raping a 19-year-old woman inside Upper Darby’s Bethel Community Baptist Church.

Troy Posey, 48, is currently under arrest and behind bars, according to CBS News in Philadelphia.

Police have been on the lookout for Posey ever since he was accused of sexually abusing his girlfriend’s 14-year-old daughter back in 2012. That 14-year-old told police that Posey had been molesting her ever since she was in third grade, beginning when she was eight-years-old.

Investigators believed that Posey had left the area.

But a little over one week ago, a 19-year-old woman reported that she sought refuge inside the Bethel Community Baptist Church after missing her last train home. She was looking for a safe place to spend the night.

Instead, she was raped by a man inside the church.

After receiving the woman’s report, the Upper Darby police immediately suspected Posey of the crime.

“The physical description sounds like the guy we want. So they did a photo array and sure enough, she picked him out,” Upper Darby Police Superintendent Chitwood said.

Turns out, Posey had been working as a handyman for the church. The church staff had no clue that Posey was wanted by the law on more than 210 child sex abuse charges dating back to 2012.

Posey has now also been charged with rape.
