DCAS (Department of Citywide Administrative Services) located at 1 Centre Street, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10007, has announced an exam for Child Protective Specialist. The exam will be given from January 2, 2014 through June 30, 2014. A schedule of exams will be posted every first of the month. To be up to date on exam dates, please visit http://www.nyc.gov/dcas. You will be drug screened at time of hire and you must understand and speak English. The exam fee is $61.00 and must be payable to DCAS on day of test. The exam is multiple choice and the listing number for this exam is 4317.
The test will be given at two DCAS locations. The address for the Manhattan location is; 2 Lafayette Street, 17th Floor, New York, NY 10007 and the Brooklyn location is 210 Joralemon Street, 4th Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11201. You will be able to take the test on Mondays at 9:30 a.m., Wednesdays at 1:30 p.m. and Thursdays at 5:00 p.m. There will be no test given on Monday, February 17, 2014 and Monday, May 26, 2014. You may take this test before meeting the educational qualifications, however, if you pass the test and are called for an appointment you must meet the educational requirements. To be considered qualified for this position, applicants must possess a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college by June 30, 2014. You must also have twenty-four semester credits in one or a combination of the following fields; psychology, sociology, human services, criminal justice, early childhood education, nursing and/or cultural anthropology.
The starting minimum salary for a Child Protective Specialist is $42,797.00.
