One child was killed and three others injured in a two-vehicle wreck that happened Friday on Ga. 314 in Fayetteville.
Police have not released the children's names, but said they are ages 8, 6, 4 and 3. They also have not released the names of the drivers involved in the wreck.
The incident happened around 9:40 a.m. on Ga. 314 near Pavilion Parkway, according to the Fayetteville police. Investigators said a Toyota Camry was attempting to turn left onto Beckett Lane and turned into the path of a south bound pick-up truck.
The four children were in the back seat of the Camry, police spokesman Lt. Mike Whitlow said.
All of the children were transported to hospitals, two by Life Flight, Whitlow said. One of the children died from their injuries, one is in extremely critical condition and two are in serious condition, he said.
The driver of the Camry was also transported and is still hospitalized, Whitlow said. The driver of the pick-up truck was not injured.
The wreck is being investigated by the Fayetteville Police Department and the Georgia State Patrol, the spokesman said. Any charges to be filed will be determined after the investigation is complete, Whitlow said.
Earlier Friday, a motorist was also killed in a wreck on Ga. 279 near Helmer Road in Fayette County, Fayette sheriff’s spokesman Josh Shelton said. No details about the motorist or the wreck were immediately available.
All lanes of Ga. 279 have since reopened to traffic, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
