According to Monday's CTV News, a seven-year-old child is dead after being fatally mauled by two large dogs in Springfield, Manitoba in Canada.

The young girl, Gracie Herntier Clark, was visiting at a friend's home on Sunday afternoon when she was attacked by the family's two Alaskan malamutes. Clark was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Though the RCMP has reported that the girl knew the dogs and that she was being supervised at the time of the attack, nobody apparently witnessed the actual incident which claimed the child's life.

According to Global News, by the time that the authorities arrived, the dogs, who were both three years of age, had been secured by their owners.

The dogs, Shadow and Bear, have been impounded and are being held by the Springfield animal control department.

Prior to the deadly incident, there had been no complaints registered about the dogs and one neighbor stated that they were "very playful."
