Child accused of using syringe to kill the family dog

A 12-year-old boy in Pennsylvania is facing possible criminal charges after he allegedly utilized a stolen syringe to kill his family's dog, reported Tuesday's publication of the Meadville Tribune.

It was the child's own family who reported the disturbing incident to the authorities on Monday afternoon.

The boy, whose name will not be released because of his age, is accused of stealing syringes from a neighbor and purposefully injecting air into the family dog's veins.

The effect of the air in the dog's blood vessels caused the dog, who was described as a Labrador retriever mix, to become ill; after approximately one week, the dog ultimately died.

The Crawford County District Attorney’s Office is said to be pursuing animal cruelty charges as well as theft charges against the juvenile.
