Chihuahua left in hot car, survives heatstroke, car a mess with "urine, feces"

Just one day after reporting an area man who left his dog in a boiling hot car 2 hours outside of the city of Chicago, another case hits the newswires.

This time, Clarence Owens, aged 73, a Lorain OH. man has been charged with animal cruelty after allegedly leaving his pet chihuahua in a parked car while shopping, according to the Chronicle Telegram.

The dog was noticed left in a car for an extended amount of time. His tongue was sticking out, he was struggling to breathe and apparently suffering from the heat.

The officer noted in his report that all of Owens' windows were rolled up, with the exception of one that was "barely cracked open".

Owens told police that he was shopping and had left his dog in the car since 11am. Police arrived at the scene at 1:30 pm.

The officer that wrote the report noted urine and feces in the car.

Owens has been charged with animal cruelty with the dog being turned over to animal control for treatment, as they observe the animal and save his life.
