For fans of the Kansas City Chiefs who think their team isn’t getting any love from the media outside of Kansas City, take heart. After a 3-0 start, your team has made the jump into the top 10 of ESPN’s weekly Power Rankings at #8, making what is hopefully a season-long stay in the upper echelon of the NFL.
The Chiefs are one of seven undefeated teams heading into Week 4, along with Seattle (#1 ranking), Denver (#2), New Orleans (#3), Chicago (#4), New England (#5), and Miami (#7) who all are in the top 10, along with 2-1 teams Cincinnati (#6) and Indianapolis (#9).
Of course, this being ESPN, the network favorite San Francisco 49ers remain in the top 10 even after being beaten badly the last two weeks by Seattle and Indy and sporting a 1-2 record. Former top 10 mainstays like Green Bay (#12), Houston (#13) and Atlanta (#14) all lost this past weekend and have fallen out of the top 10.

Chiefs fans undoubtedly are feeling good about their team and are cautiously hopeful of getting their first 4-0 start since the 2003 season when they host the bumbling New York Giants on Sunday. A win would give the team only its’ third 4-0 start in team history (1996 and 2003).
The struggling Giants fell nine spots in the rankings to #29 after being demolished 38-0 by the Carolina Panthers last Sunday. To be blunt, New York is playing like the 2012 Chiefs did, with a league-leading 13 turnovers, a completely one-sided offense – New York’s running “attack” is averaging just 44 yards per game – and the defense ain’t your daddy’s Giants defense. They have given up 36, 41, and 38 points in their three losses.
Ironically, QB Eli Manning is the main reason Chiefs fans are either confident or cautious about this week’s game. Manning is talented enough to throw for 500 yards and multiple touchdowns and lead his team to a win, or he can be a turnover machine that dooms the Giants to another blowout loss. It will be up to the Chiefs 2nd-ranked scoring defense (giving up just 11.3 points per game) with their own league-leading nine turnovers caused to allow the fans go home happy Sunday evening.
