“Farm families have known the joys of raising their own poultry for years, but people everywhere are beginning to realize the many benefits of raising poultry, even if it’s right in their backyards,” said Mike Anderson of Anderson General Store. “We are excited to help families get started with their own flocks, so they too can participate in the chicken raising trend.”
Throughout the duration of Chick Days, Anderson General Store will have experts available to offer advice and guidance on how to raise chickens from freshly hatched chicks through laying, including details on proper nutrition to provide the best eggs. Chicken raising experts can learn new tips and beginners will learn the basics of starting their flocks.
“Last year’s Chick Days activities were such a success, we’re excited to introduce another round of people to raising their own poultry,” added Mike Anderson.
Anderson General Store will be providing special cost-savings on Certified Natural Start & Grow® or Flock Raiser® feed from Purina throughout Chick Days. For those interested in ordering their hatchlings in advance, please call 912-764-9084. Hatchlings will be available throughout the duration of Chick Days, but it is recommended to call ahead to reserve orders.
“Chicken owners know their eggs are fresh and natural. They can be confident in the treatment of the meat they eat and can provide a fun activity for the whole family to get involved with,” said Andy Schneider, “The Chicken Whisperer” and Purina Poultry Ambassador. “For adults there’s a sense of pride and of self-sufficiency in raising your own food, and children learn responsibility and make a worthwhile contribution to the household by caring for the flock.”
