Chicken nuggets have been a staple in many homes for many years. Popular amongst kids and adults alike, chicken nuggets are just plain good... but have you ever wondered what is actually in them? Well, chicken of course, but what else? On Oct. 7 it was reported that a study conducted in Mississippi showed that not all nuggets are 100% chicken meat.
The nuggets tested consisted of blood vessels, nerves, and fat. Some had cartilage and pieces of bone in them... and only about 50% of the nuggets were actually muscle -- chicken meat. While this study doesn't prove that every chicken nugget is made up of stuff other than chicken meat, it does suggest that eating those tasty chicken bites might not be what you think.
Chicken nuggets are served in a variety of places from fast food joints to sit down eateries... and not every nugget is the same -- but will this information (that you probably already assumed) deter you from eating them?
