Chick-fil-A supporters in pushback against vicious gay marriage activists

According to gay marriage groups,"equality" in love is a basic right and the important thing is that every one should be able to marry whomever they love, male or female. Evidently, though, not everyone is to be given equality in decent treatment for simply expressing a view.

After president Dan Cathy of Chick-fil-A articulated his views about gay marriage, an intense firestorm broke loose.

Gay activists have called for a boycott of Dan Cathy's fast-food restaurants. The Jim Henson Co. no longer wishes to be associated with the chain and has pulled its Muppet toys from kids' meals. Bully politicians in Boston (Mayor Thomas Menino) and Chicago (Mayor Rahm Emanuel) have taken sides against the corporation by throwing forth the un-welcome mat for Chick-fil-A.

It was made public that the Cathy Family Foundation donated some $2 million to various conservative organzations such as the Family Research Council and the Marriage and Family Foundation. Carlos Maza of Equality Matters was appalled and called the family-oriented groups "vicious" as he quipped,

"This solidifies Chick-fil-A as being closely aligned with some of the most vicious anti-gay voices in the country."

None of these tactics seems to be working as Dan Cathy is not changing his beliefs.

Like the Boy Scouts of America, Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A is admirably standing firm for its conviction. Dan Cathy said his company is "guilty as charged" for backing "the biblical definition of a family." He continued,

"I think we are inviting God's judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at him and say, 'We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage. I pray God's mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we would have the audacity to try to redefine what marriage is all about." Source

In response to the vicious hatred against Dan Cathy, Christian conservatives are reacting positively by vowing to buy more chicken sandwiches and more waffle fries next week in honor of "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day."

Mike Huckabee, who created the event, explained,

"...our appreciation is not only for the views of Dan Cathy, but for his right to have them and express them freely."

The Rev. Roger Oldham, spokesman for the Southern Baptist Convention, said loyalty among Christians intensifies when there is "a fellow Christian being persecuted." He continued,

"They will come out of the woodwork when a theologically based position is being politicized by individuals for their own purposes." Source

As can be expected, headlines against Cathy are expressed deceitfully. For example, Advocate.com reads, "It's Official: Chick-fil-A COO Dan Cathy Comes Out as Antigay," while the article continues that he is "anti-marriage equality."

"Chick-fil-A values are not Chicago values," says Mayor Ron Capone. "By the way, has anybody asked any prominent Muslims what they think about the institution of marriage?"

7/25/12: "Chicago Politician Will Ban Chick-fil-A From Opening Restaurant After Anti-Gay Comments" "Boston Mayor Thomas Menino sent Cathy a letter informing him 'There is no place for discrimination on Boston's Freedom Trail and no place for your company alongside it.'"

7/27/12: "Menino maintains his opposition to Chick-file-A but admits he can’t stop the chain from coming to Boston"
