While the Harris Theater is closed for repairs, due to last week’s electrical fire, the March 1 performance of The Joffrey Academy of Dance’s Winning Works: Choreographers of Color Awards 2014 has been moved to Chicago’s Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place on 175 E. Chestnut Street.

Contemporary and modern dance moves choreographed by Emma Draves, Jeff Hancock, Sarah Edgar, Lizzie Leopold, Amanda Lower, Joel Valentin-Martinez and Laura Wade will be performed by Northwestern student dancers in Danceworks 2014: Hot Buttons at the Josephine Louis Theater on 20 Arts Circle Drive in Evanston from February 28 through March 9.

“This will be a thoughtfully choreographed, beautifully danced evening,” says Artistic Director Susan A. Lee. “It includes a revival of a Danceworks favorite, several premieres and live music.”

In support of Team Joseph and the Evanston Community Foundation, approximately 1,000 students will dance for 30 hours for the 40th annual Northwestern University Dance Marathon which begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 7, and finishes at 1 a.m. on Sunday, March 9, at Norris University Center on 1999 Campus Drive in Evanston. Donations can be made and a live stream can be viewed at www.nudm.org.

More than 80 student dancers will perform in the Hyde Park School of Dance’s revival of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Nightingale (March 15-16) at the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts on 915 E. 60th Street in Chicago. Tickets ($10- $20) are available at 773-493-8498 and at hydeparkdance.org.
