Chicagoland gets ready to ring in the new year—with music

New Philharmonic and Maestro Kirk Muspratt appears at the McAninch Arts Center (MAC)’s newly-renovated Performance Hall with the Viennese Pops New Year’s Eve Celebration with an International Twist. Featuring waltzes, polkas, traditional Viennese musical selections and more, the concerts take place at 4 and 9 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2013. A live broadcast is also set for 4 p.m. on 98.7 FM-WFMT.

“I and all the members of the critically acclaimed New Philharmonic orchestra are thrilled to return to our home at the MAC,” says Muspratt, “and it will be an evening to remember when we christen the new Performance Hall stage with our New Year’s Eve 2013 concerts.”

In Aurora, Piano Men: A Tribute to Elton John (played by Craig A. Meyer) and Billy Joel (played by Donnie Kehr) is slated for two performances on New Year's Eve. The 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. shows take place at Paramount Theatre on 23 E. Galena Boulevard. The 10 p.m. performance includes a champagne toast and party favors. Doors open at 9 p.m. for New Year's Eve performances by Black Joe Lewis and Outer Minds at Metro on Clark Street. Stage 773 presents its second annual New Year’s Eve Monster’s Ball from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Tuesday, December 31 at 1225 W. Belmont in Chicago. Guests are expected to don their most horrific attire as they ring in 2014 with unlimited specialty drinks, appetizers, live music, a haunted house, and a cham”pain” toast.
