2009 MLB season in review: Chicago White Sox The Chicago White Sox played in the worst division in baseball in 2009. It seemed no one wanted to win the American League Central, and the White Sox had a chance to win it, all the way to the nearly the end of the 2009 season. They made a strong move to add pitcher Jake Peavey to their rotation, and even though that move didn’t work for 2009, it leaves them very strong moving forward. This is a team that seemed to have the right mix of veteran and young players, and were probably a lot better than their final record indicated. In the end this was a team that could not sustain any momentum. |

With 30 games remaining and down six full games to the Division leading Detroit Tigers the Chicago White Sox apparently are waiving the white flag of surrender and traded away more parts of their team to playoff contending teams last night. By trading the players on August 31st it insures these players will be eligible for the post season roster of their new teams. |

The Chicago White Sox claimed Alex Rios off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays. This is the latest attempt by the Jays to dump salary. While they held out for a big time deal for Pitcher Roy Halladay, a deal that was never completed the Jays have no lost Rios and get nothing in return. Nothing except for getting out from underneath Rios’ 60 million dollar contract. |
