Chicago Vogue Knitting LIVE has knitter and author Debbie Macomber as speaker

Vogue Knitting LIVE will be held in Chicago, October 26-28, 2012 at the Palmer House Hilton Hotel. The keynote speaker at the Gala Dinner held Saturday night will be author, knitter and yarn shop owner Debbie Macomber. Ms. Macomber has written a series of books featuring a knitting shop on Blossom Street in the fictional city of Cedar Cove. From this series of books, Ms. Macomber has also compiled knitting leaflets published by Leisure Arts featuring patterns from the Blossom Street series.

The Palmer House Hilton Hotel is located near Millennium Park in the heart of the theater, financial, and shopping districts of downtown Chicago. The Palmer House Hilton Hotel is within walking distance of the Windy City’s most famous museums, shopping, government, and corporate buildings.

Windy City Knitters can expect more than 200 inspirational hand knit classes. The Vogue Knitting LIVE event held in Chicago is the closest Vogue event to Detroit area fiber enthusiasts. The next Ultimate Vogue Knitting Event will be January 18-20, 2013 in Manhattan at the heart of Times Square.

The first of its kind in the Midwest, Vogue Knitting LIVE brings Vogue Knitting magazine to life with knit couture fashion shows, a Marketplace featuring thousands of new products, inspirational master-level technique and design classes for novices and experts, and more. Knitting's popularity is on the rise as there are currently more than 800,000 knitters in the United States and growing.

Thousands of enraptured of knitters flocked to previous Vogue Knitting LIVE events in New York and Los Angeles to experience all that this one-of-a-kind event focusing on fashion, fiber, and education has to offer. Knitters in the Windy City this October can expect:

  • More than 200 master-level technique and design classes taught by 40 of the biggest names in the knitwear industry, such as Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, Ysolda Teague, and Chicago resident Franklin Habit.
  • A Marketplace featuring the latest and greatest products—including hard-to-find fibers such as qiviut and buffalo, patterns to create your own mini knit gnomes, and a knit art gallery.
  • Knit couture fashion shows displaying more than 100 hand-knit garments in today’s latest fashions and colors.
  • Free learn-to-knit and crochet lessons for the novice knitter. Knitters, bring your friends!

Michigan vendors at the Vogue Knitting LIVE event include Crafty Lady Trio, Clever Ewe, Indian Lake Artisans, and MaggiKnits.

The Market is open to the public Friday 3:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m, Saturday 10:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m. and Sunday 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. at a cost of $20 for a one day pass, $25 for a two day pass. Friday is free with the purchase of a Marketplace pass. Children ages 12 and younger are free.
