Over an estimated 21,000 attendees filled the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center for the 2014 Chicago Travel and Adventure Show on Jan. 11th and 12th.
Exhibitors including Disney Destinations, Maui, Costa Rica and Mexico were some of the eye catching exhibits that many found intriguing. Visitor Andrew Fackler, 18, has attended the show for four years and said that there were some things missing from what he has seen in previous years.

“It's bigger, but in the past they had more animals, but I've been here long enough to have seen everything anyways.” Fackler said.

Besides the exhibits themselves, what drew the largest crowd were the special guest speakers including Travel Channels Samantha Brown and WTTW's Rick Steves just to name a few. Brown entertained the attendees with tales from her travel of finding peanut butter and helpful advice for how to get started with traveling.

“To have meaningful travel, I want to know where the up and coming area is. When we travel, we scroll down strip malls for real ethnic crusine.” Brown said.

“I love discovering these hidden pockets of culture. Get out the packs, put yourself in the middle of it and talk to people. Nothing gives up that opportunity like traveling the next undiscovered area, for me it's Southeast Asia.”

Though the show featured over 245 exhibits, the people want more. Visitor Ervine fox, 40, who is a first timer to the convention, enjoyed the show although the Bora Bora exhibit wasn't there this year.

“I like to travel and this gives me an idea and to ask different questions and picking up different things. I recommend this to anyone and I look forward to returning next year.” Fox said.

The Chicago Travel and Adventure show will return to Rosemont in January 2015.
