Director and producer extraordinaire, Michael Bay, took to his personal website today to dish on some of the upcoming details of Transformers 3. The third installment of the TV cartoon turned blockbuster film franchise is scheduled to hit theaters in July of 2011.
Bay announced that Chicago born actors John Malkovich (Dangerous Liaisons, Being John Malkovich) and Frances McDormand (Fargo, North Country) have signed on to star alongside Transformers leading man, Shia LeBeouf. Oscar nominated Malkovich and Oscar winner McDormand are not typically known for the big budget blockbusters, but for their work in critically acclaimed indie projects. They last co-starred together in Joel Coen and Ethan Coen's Burn After Reading.
In addition to the casting news, Bay said that filming will be taking place all over the world, including a stop in Chicago.
