Bootstrapping startups face the challenge of building a high quality image for their customers, partners, and employees within a limited budget as they work to build their product/service and brand. Turnstone, a Steelcase company (NYSE: STE), has announced “Culture@Work in the Heartland,” a contest that will give five small and emerging businesses – companies with less than 100 employees in five cities including Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Kansas City, and Dallas– a chance to win a $20,000 office makeover.
Companies have until February 10, 2013 to submit their online applications; they will be asked to submit photos, answer a few short questions about culture at their business, and explain how an office makeover would improve their culture and take their venture to the next level. Turnstone will announce winners in person, including in Chicago on February 25th.
"Space shapes behavior. The best small businesses create and work in spaces that authentically reflect their brand," said Kevin Kuske, chief anthropologist and general manager for turnstone. " Our 'Culture@Work in the Heartland' campaign is designed to showcase both great startups in Middle America and to help other entrepreneurs see the intimate connection between culture, space and business success."
