There was a crash along the Chicago Skyway which connects Chicago’s South Side and Indiana’s Northwest portion of that state, according to a WGN-TV news report on Wednesday. The accident which occurred late Wednesday afternoon involved three vehicles and two semi-trailer trucks that were traveling the toll-way on Chicago’s South Side.
The result of the crash reportedly left three vehicles mangled with an SUV wedged under the back of a semi truck. Quite remarkably, all persons involved in the accident have survived. At least six people were involved in the accident. Three are reportedly in critical condition. Two persons had to be extricated from their vehicle.
The Chicago Fire Department is reporting that a semi-trailer truck rear-ended a vehicle on the Chicago Skyway at 69th Street.
The Chicago Skyway Bridge is a 7.8-mile toll road connecting the Dan Ryan Expressway on Chicago’s South Side to the Indiana Toll Road. Formerly operated and maintained by the City of Chicago Department of Streets and Sanitation, the Skyway Concession Company, LLC now operates the thoroughfare and has for the past 8 years.
