It’s a great weekend to check out some of the fun animal-focused events. Check out the K-9 Fit Club at Chicago Party Animals the Dog Wash for the Big Hearts Fund adoption events and Tats for Cats. There will also be a pet store protest. Check out the events below.
Thursday, January 17
Are you looking for new ways to get fit with your pup? Stop by Chicago Party Animals at 1133 West Fulton Market from 7 to 9 p.m. for an open house for the K9 Fit Club. This is a great way for you to work on getting into shape while helping keep your dog in shape at the same time. Meet the instructors and learn about their obedience trainers.
Saturday, January 19 and Sunday, January 20
Stop by Insight Studios at 1062 North Milwaukee Avenue for Tats for Cats from noon until 10 p.m. on Saturday and noon until 8 p.m. Sunday. This benefit for Tree House Humane Society is on a walk in basis and there may be some limitations as to what work can be done due to the availability of various artists. Learn more online.
Saturday, January 19
There will be a second open house for the K9 Fit Club at Chicago Party Animals at 1133 West Fulton Market from 10 to 11 a.m. This is a great way for you to work on getting into shape while helping keep your dog in shape at the same time. Meet the instructors and learn about their obedience trainers.
After the Fit Club open house, swing over to the Wigglyville West Loop from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. for a Dog Wash benefitting the Big Hearts Fund. Wash away your pup’s winter grime for just $20 with half the funds going to the organization. The Big Hearts Fund is an organization that raises money to help pets with cardiac issues and also educates pet owners about heart problems in pets.
Learn why you should open your heart to black cats or FIV positive kitties by joining LuLu’s Locker Rescue at one of two adoption. From 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. they will be at Parkview Pet Supplies at 5358 North Broadway in Chicago with the dynamic duo of Carbon and Copy. From noon until 3 p.m. they will be at Parker’s at 1342 East 55th Street in Chicago with personable Chance and cuddly Tulip.
Check out the cats and kittens available for adoption from Tree House Humane Society at Pet Supplies Plus at Lincoln and Grace from noon until 5 p.m. Tree House’s adoptable pets will also bee at Doggy Style Pet Shop at 2023 West Division on both Saturday and Sunday for an adoption event as the store kicks off it’s Cat Appreciation Week.
Join Secondhand Snoots Rescue for an adoption event from noon until 4 p.m. at the new Kriser’s at 1640 North Milwaukee Avenue in Vernon Hills. Meet the great dogs and cats in available for adoption.
CAPS will be hosting a protest outside The Puppy Parlor on Ogden and Main in Lisle from 1 to 3 p.m. This store is one of those recently highlighted by the Humane Society of the United States for not only purchasing puppies from puppy mills but for running their own mill in the back room. The organization will be holding peaceful protests every Saturday in January from 1 to 3 p.m.
Party the night away with Rock 4 ROAR at the Countryside Saloon at 2501 East Ballard Road in Des Plaines. The event, which is also held in conjunction with the Fizz Bar and Grill, is $40 and runs from 6 to 9 p.m. with proceeds benefitting ROAR (Roll Over Animal Rescue). Tickets are available online.
Help support the Homeless Hounds Rescue at the “Spare” the Hounds Candlelight Bowling event. The bowling gets started at 9:30 p.m. and it’s just $25 per bowler with 3 games of bowling, shoe rental, pizza, pasta and more included in the price. The event will be at the Oak Forest Bowl and The Park at 15240 S. Cicero Ave, Oak Forest. Learn more online.
