Chicago's weekend pet scene: Puppy mill awareness and more

*/

Are you looking for a break from the winter blues? There are many fun events slated for this week on Chicago’s Pet Scene. From a wine tasting to puppy mill protests and a big adoption event, here’s what’s on tap this week.

Saturday, January 26

Here’s your chance to check out a Yoga class and benefit the animals of rescue at the same time. 5th Line Studio at 222 West Hubbard Street will be hosting a Free Yoga Class from 11 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. – donations will benefit Alive Rescue. The class will be taught by former Joffrey Ballet dancer Jennifer Goodman. Call 312-888-3175 or email the5thline@me.com.

Stop by Kriser’s at 3232 Lake in Wilmette for Chicago Cat Rescue’s adoption event. The rescue will be on hand with adoptable cats and kittens from noon until 3 p.m.

CAPS will be hosting a protest outside The Puppy Parlor on Ogden and Main in Lisle from 1 to 3 p.m. This store is one of those recently highlighted by the Humane Society of the United States for not only purchasing puppies from puppy mills but for running their own mill in the back room. The organization will be holding peaceful protests every Saturday in January from 1 to 3 p.m.

Annie’s Little Angels Rescue holds it’s Wine & Wags benefit at Wine Styles at 2775 Showplace Dr. in Naperville from 4 to 6 p.m. Help the rescue raise funds to help rescue more animals and pay medical bills for the pups and kitties in their care. (Note: the event is now sold out.)
