If your rescue or shelter has issues with under socialized kittens, this is a great workshop for you. Tree House Humane Society, The Anti-Cruelty Society and Petco Foundation are sponsoring a workshop from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. that will focus on socializing kittens pulled from TNR colonies. The workshop will be at the Anti-Cruelty Society – register in advance at events@nycferalcat.org or call (212) 330-0033 ext. 5.
Here’s the first of two chances to jump in Lake Michigan this weekend to support animal Rescue. Project Rescue Chicago hosts Freezin’ for a Reason at the Foster Avenue Beach in Chicago with check-in and group photo around 10:15. The group will hop in the lake around 11. You can sign up to jump in full force, dip your toes in or just participate in spirit – then party afterward at the Cubby Bear. Sign up or sponsor someone online and read more about the event here. Registration is just $25.
CAPS will be hosting a protest outside The Puppy Parlor on Ogden and Main in Lisle from 1 to 3 p.m. This store is one of those recently highlighted by the Humane Society of the United States for not only purchasing puppies from puppy mills but for running their own mill in the back room. The organization will be holding peaceful protests every Saturday in January from 1 to 3 p.m.
Sunday, January 6
Alive Rescue holds its Fourth Annual Shelter Shiver on the North Avenue Beach at 11 a.m. to help raise funds to support the rescue and its new shelter – The Little Barn.
