Chicago welcomes a family favorite, Laura Doherty, for her CD release show on February 22. Celebrating her third kids' CD, In a Heartbeat, Laura and her band will perform for fans at 11:00 am at the Old Town School of Folk Music.

Says Laura Doherty, "I'm thrilled to be performing this CD release show at home in Chicago! Celebrating the album's release at the Old Town School of Folk Music, where I've been teaching music to kids for fifteen years, is especially significant to me. Our school's 400-seat concert hall is one of the best places in the city to see a live show. It's an intimate venue, but there's lots of room to dance, and every seat is a good seat. What makes it even more special is that children attending my classes in the Old Town School's Wiggleworms music program inspired many of the songs on In a Heartbeat."

Known for her warm, engaging style, Laura Doherty has a remarkable ear for a catchy melody, a passion for creating sweet, folk-inspired songs, and a singular ability to connect with children that earned her the moniker "Chicago's pop sweetheart for kids" from AAA Living Magazine. Time Out NY Kids declared Laura's 2009 Parents' Choice Gold Award-winning Kids in the City to be one of that year's "Top 10 Kids' Albums." Time Out Chicago gave 4 stars to her 2011 Parents' Choice Silver Award-winning Shining Like a Star and rated Laura as one of Chicago's Top 4 Children's Artists (with Justin Roberts, Ella Jenkins, and Ralph Covert). Enthused Sirius/XM's Kids' Place Live Program Director Mindy Thomas, "Laura knows her audience, and her music is fantastic!"

The whole family will this folk-pop performance. Favorite characters like characters, Domingo the Flamingo and Jazzasaurus, will appear as puppets. Children will be invited to come onstage to shake a tambourine, brush Jazzasaurus' two baby teeth, bird-sit Domingo, and more. After the show, Laura will be available to sign her CDs.

Old Town School of Folk Music is located at 4544 N. Lincoln Ave in Chicago. Tickets for this event are $12 or $11 for Old Town School of Folk Music members. For more information, please call 773-728-6000 or Old Town School of Folk Music website.
