The city of Chicago had hoped to host the 2016 Summer Olympics. They pulled out all the stops sending heavy hitters like Queen of Daytime Oprah Winfrey, First Lady Michelle Obama to do some public relations for the city.
President Barack Obama himself even made the long trip to as he put it “urge" the committee to choose Chicago.It was announced just moments ago that Chicago had not been chosen as the site in the firet round of eliminations.
The IOC members vote by a secret ballot until one city receives a majority of votes. After each round the city receiving the fewest votes is eliminated. Each city is said to make a 45-minute presentations to the IOC members, with an additional 15 minutes for questions and answers.
As of 10: 30 am Madrid and Rio De Janeiro are still in the running for the 2016 Summer Olympics host city position.
