Chicago kicks off 2014 with Fillet of Solo Festival

If one of your resolutions for 2014 is to see more theater and experience a wide variety of storytelling, Lifeline Theatre’s 7th Annual Fillet of Solo Festival (January 3–19) arrives just in time.

The three-week event features solo performers Liz Baudler, Jamie Black, Eve Brownstone, Katherine Chronis, Marsha Estell, Kim Morris, Andrew Reilly, Amanda Rountree, Penelope Walker, and Eric Warner as well as storytelling panels and workshops led by Amanda Delheimer Dimond and Julie Ganey from 2nd Story, Deanna Moffitt and Story Sessions alums.

The BYOB Story Hour (byobstoryhour.com):
An intimate night of storytelling and live music.

enSOLO (facebook.com/EnSoloPerformance):
An ensemble of solo performers who write together and perform alone.

the kates (thekates.org):
This all-female group performs comic pieces ranging from musical numbers to standup.

The Lifeline Storytelling Project (lifelinestorytellingproject.com):
Designed to develop and showcase young artists affiliated with the company, The Lifeline Storytelling Project produces monthly live music and storytelling events

Story Club (storyclubchicago.com):
Story Club is like Fight Club, only they don’t pull any punches as they combine the spontaneity of an open mic with the experience of live theatre.

Sweat Girls (sweatgirls.org):
For more than 20 years, the Sweat Girls have been writing and performing heartfelt and humorous storytelling shows in Chicago.

Write Club (writeclubrules.com):
Two opposing writers. Two opposing ideas. Seven minutes apiece. The audience picks a winner.

You’re Being Ridiculous (yourebeingridiculous.com):
A group of real people telling real funny stories about their lives with a theme as their guide.
