Chicago q: four $4 special menu items available for four Days

On Thursday, September 4, Chicago q celebrates their golden anniversary and is sharing their presents with their loyal guests. Beginning on September 4, Chicago q will offer four $4 menu items available through Sunday, September 7. All of these menu items feature seasonal ingredients alongside Chicago q favorites.

“One of my favorite things to do in the kitchen is take dishes that I’ve tried and loved and recreate them with my own twist,“ says Chef/Partner Lee Ann Whippen. “That’s what we’ve done with these items. We’ve taken dishes that our customers have come to love over the past four years and put a new spin on them.”

The four specials will include:
· Summer Corn and Squash Fritters
Smoked corn, yellow squash, zucchini and roasted jalapeno peppers fried and served with an avocado dill crème sauce.
· Pork Skewers
Pork loin, bell pepper and onion grilled and served atop bourbon peach bbq sauce and garnished with smoked sesame seeds.
· Braised Pork Belly Salad
Pork Belly on top of frisee with a warm bacon vinaigrette and house smoked almonds.
· Alligator Tacos
Chili seasoned alligator with pico de gallo.

In addition, on the actual anniversary, September 4, 10% of all proceeds will be donated to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).

Specials available Thursday, September 4 through Sunday, September 7.

Chef Lee Ann finished first in the Brisket category at the Kansas City Barbecue Society’s (KCBS) Sam’s Club National BBQ Tour Regional Competition in Maryland this year. She is also the winner of the pulled pork competition on “Throwdown! with Bobby Flay” in 2008.

She is also a member of the Kansas City Barbecue Society, KCBS Certified BBQ Judge, a former newspaper Food Columnist, and has spent 16 years in Hotel Catering Management and more than 17 years cooking competitive BBQ.
