The news of a kindergarten readiness assessment tool to be debuted by Chicago Public Schools this month is making waves in the education community.
The assessment is to be taken by preschoolers in order to help teachers and parents identify areas requiring improvement. It consists of eight activities and six items that cover social and emotional skills of the child.
According to a story in Catalyst, preschool teachers will receive copies of the Kindergarten Readiness Tool by mid-April and administer it in May. CPS will also make the assessment available to the public by posting it online and in public libraries.
