Summer is here. Moms still need to get out of the house, even when the temperatures rise and being outside with your infant for more than a little while becomes problematic. Where can you go with your little ones, who aren't old enough for the outside spray parks? These are our top 5 favorite playspaces in Chicago, from the near north to the near south:
a. Little Beans Cafe - large playspace, parking lot, good coffee & food for purchase, and lots of plays for mom to sit and relax while having baby close by. The fire house in the play area is my favorite. Read the review by Chicago Parent.
b. Purple Monkey Playroom - inviting playspace with comfy chairs for mom to relax; you can bring your own beverages and snacks, or enjoy the complimentary coffee
2. Near North/Lincoln Square:
a. Bubbles Academy - Most people know about Bubbles Academy's creative and learning programs. But, did you know they have an open playspace? Open play is available during weekdays, during the hottest part of the day - from 1 - 5 PM.l
b. Pickles Playroom - Playspace + Coffee + hair salon. Good coffee and a parking area right outside. What sets Pickle's Playroom apart from the rest is the hair salon. Free admission to play area with a kids' haircut. Read the review by Chicago Parent here.
3. South Loop:
a. The Sod Room - the newest playspace on the scene, the Sod Room is a relaxing beautiful handout for moms with young kids. Complimentary coffee and parking on Michigan Ave is generally ample.
Playspaces are generally 'sock only' areas, so moms need to be sure they bring socks for themselves as well as the little ones if they are mobile.
