It's migration time again ... hundreds of Greater Sandhill Cranes have been seen flying over Chicagoland as they head south to their winter grounds in Florida. Unfortunately, it is now the tail end of the migration season.

But you can still hear or see them flying over occasionally.

The best area to see them, however, is in the Jasper-Pulaski Fish and Wildlife Area in Medaryville, IN, about 2 hours drive away. There are still a few thousand of these magnificent birds congregating in the Goose Pasture every sunrise and sunset, but again the numbers are dwindling. At the peak of the season, 28,000 birds were seen in the pasture (last week of November). Early December, there were about 21,000 birds.
