In last week’s episode, the unit was put to the test as Dawson’s son is kidnapped by Pulpo’s men. They unit bands together and stops and nothing (and I mean nothing) to get his son back. The unit sees that Voight has some unorthodox methods, but does get results. In other news, Lindsay freezes up and it causes friction in the unit.

In this week’s episode, titled “Chin Check”, the unit is investigating a house that they think is selling illegal stuff on the black market. It doesn’t take long to prove that their theory is right when they get into the house and see M995 bullets that can pierce through armor aka ‘cop killers’ and insulin boxes to ship them in. They also learn that the bullets were used in multiple murders around town.
Lindsay discovers that the person that they might be trading with is a medical company in Canada called Martin Medical Supply. They come down to Chicago ever other Thursday to meet with the man who got shot, Peter.
When Burgess/Atwater go to investigate the trade with Martin Medical Supply, they find a man dead, named George, in an empty van. Lindsay/Halstead talk with his widow wife and learn that she came down with him. She says she was shopping but after further investigation they find out she was in Edgewater, no where near a shopping place.
Lindsay/Halstead question the widow again she tells them about their nephew, Mikey. The group set up a meeting with him to exchange for the guns. When the exchange goes down, there is a giant shoot-out and Alvin finds himself in a sticky situation.
Voight meets with one of his CI and learns that they heard about the guns on the streets. Then his CI asks him to look into someone whose trying to build a case against him at the DA’s office before giving Voight money.
Voight is keeping his promise to D’Anthony to get him out, but it might be too late when he learns that D’Anthony has to kill someone to prove his loyalty to his family. When Voight tries to ask for D’Anthony, Trey-zelle shuts him down so Voight takes matters into his own hands.
Voight tells Lindsay that Justin is getting out of jail, which she is happy about, but Voight is nervous about. He doesn’t know how Justin will adjust to being out of jail. When Justin gets out, he tries to kiss Lindsay and she snaps at him to stop. She is starting to see that maybe Voight was right about him not being the same after jail.
In a side case, Voight tells Lindsay that Kelly’s (Taylor Kinney from Chicago Fire) sister has been missing for 16 hours.
Dawson and his wife, Laura, help their son adjust to life after being kidnapped and his wife is determined to meet with the CI, Jasmine, that helped him on the case. When they meets, Laura thanks Jasmine for helping save Diego.
In a personal matter, Halstead meets with a couple to help mourn the death of their son, who had died seven years earlier. Then he goes to the boy who was responsible for it and loses his temper. It’s not really clear the connection that Halstead has with the first family, but it will probably be something that will develop in the show.
Ruzek comes clean with his fiancée about being in Intelligence and about the shooting, which he is completely fine with. There is something off with Ruzek and it seems a little weird that he wouldn’t be at least a little effected by the shooting, especially since the man died. It’s probably something that will eat at him for a while before he snaps.
In next week’s episode, the unit starts working on what seem to be minor cases but quickly learn that they are deeper then they are on the surface.
