Chicago music news roundup; some links to check out

Here are a few timely links and news bites of happenings in the Chicago music scene over the past week:

  • Pet Lions have released a new EP titled Popular Nature, which you can grab as a "name your price" download via Bandcamp. The EP follows-up 2011's full-length Houses.
  • Been longing for more bizarre, random Billy Corgan news? Never fear. The Smashing Pumpkins frontman recently appeared in the new Walter E. Smithe commercial. It involves a wrestling ring and Billy in a blue cardigan. See for yourself here. "You dream it, we build it."
  • Maps & Atlases have released a new video, the second from their latest full-length album Beware & Be Grateful. This time it's for the breezy, melody-driven track "Fever." Check it out here.
  • To get a sampling of the sounds that will represent Chicago at this year's SXSW in Austin, be sure to add the Hideout's annual SXSW sendoff party going down on Saturday, March 9th. Take a look at this post on loudlooppress.com for more information.
