The 2013 Chicago Jazz Fest kicks into full gear today. Starting at 2:00 p.m. and running through Sunday evening there will a variety of jazz acts performing in Millennium Park. Some will be old school jazz while other will have a more modern, Latin beat.
Most of us casual jazz fans will not be familiar with many of the acts performing this weekend but there will be lots of great music none the less. During the day there are two stages going at all times with just short intermissions. That way you can go for only a few hours and easily see at least four different acts
Finally after years of languishing in the dated and rundown Petrillo Music Shell the main stage has been moved to the modern and much more pleasant Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park. It is a great place to bring a blanket or lawn chairs and pack a picnic dinner. The rest of the festival has also moved to Millennium Park with stages being set along the promenade near “The Bean”.
