The Brown Sisters have been one of Chicago's Gospel music kept secrets. Known for their powerful anointed vocals, The Brown Sisters for years have been a staple Gospel female group. They released their debut album, Live in Chicago, in June 2009. The news of the passing of their beloved sister, Phyllis, was made known this afternoon, Wednesday, July 30, from the President of the Chicago Area Gospel Announcers Guild (CAGAG), Yvonne Wesley-Seabrooks via Facebook.
With great sympathy, condolences and prayers are sent to The Brown Sisters and their family. The loss of a loved one is never easy, especially someone as close as a sister. Adrienne, Andrea, LaVette, Phyllis and Vanessa have always been together serving in ministry, singing and spreading God's word through song. Their bond was just as tight as their vocals. When you saw one, you definitely could look to see one or two more of them.
Over the years, The Brown Sisters have traveled the world, sharing the stage with some of the music industry's best, such as Aretha Franklin, the late Walter Hawkins and so many others. From performing on the hit 90's Gospel television music show, Testify, to their performance recently at the first Chicago Gospel Music Awards, you'll never forget their infectious smiling faces and "sangin'". If you have not purchased their single "Awesome God" or their "Live in Chicago" album, you can download it on iTunes today.
Please continue to lift The Brown Sisters and family up in prayer. Their parents Pastor Ben and First Lady Alberta Brown and church families, Pillar of Truth COGIC (Chicago, IL), Living Word Christian Center (Forest Park, IL) and All Nations Ministries (Atlanta, GA), will greatly miss their beloved Phyllis.
