Chicago goes red for American Heart Month

During the month of February, we celebrate American Heart Month with various events in Chicago. With heart disease as the leading cause of death in America, the month is a time to spread awareness.

Many Chicago buildings and landmarks will Go Red for the month. People can follow that lead and go red on February 3rd, which is National Wear Red Day.

Women will get the chance to share their own story of how they are personally connected with heart disease at Schaumburg Go Red CONNECT. This event is from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on February 4th at the Macy’s in Woodfield Mall. Those who share their story will be considered for the national Go Red For Women campaign.

Women will also have the opportunity to take part in free heart health screenings at the Go Red For Women Community Expo. The expo is from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on February 24 at the UIC Forum. Along with screenings, there will be interactive workshops on living heart healthy, cooking demonstrations and even a Zumba class.
