After his impressive career with 2011 and 2012 MLS Cup Champion LA Galaxy, Magee surprisingly was traded to the Chicago Fire on May 25 in exchange for Robbie Rogers. Magee immediately made an impact with the Fire and scored 15 goals and added four assists in his 22 games with the club.
Magee had already scored six goals with the Galaxy in 2013, bringing his season total to 21 goals – the second most in MLS this season. Prior to this year, the most goals Magee had scored in a single season was seven with the MetroStars back in 2003.
The Chicago native was voted MLS Player of the Month twice and MLS Player of the Week once during the 2013 season and was honored as the Fire’s 2013 MVP. Since entering MLS in 2003, Magee has scored a total of 57 goals in league play.
The other two finalists for MVP were LA Galaxy forward Robbie Keane and Montreal Impact forward Marco Di Vaio.
