Grey Matter Analytics, a consulting firm offering data analytics and predictive modeling services for the financial services industry and healthcare organizations, recently established offices in Chicago and San Jose. The big data consulting firm was founded by Sheila Talton, a Chicago-based entrepreneur, spent three decades in consulting with tech companies such as Cisco, EDS, and Ernst & Young. Grey Matter Analytics joins the ranks of other Chicago data-driven firms, including Cleversafe Inc., Tempo DB, Narrative Science, and Networked Insights.
The firm offers predictive modeling and data analytics consulting services, using a product agnostic approach, which focuses on methodologies to improve business processes and choosing the correct technologies. It seems most firms in the data analytics industry rely on certain technology solutions. This approach, called the “Mind” Assessment, is a fixed-price evaluation over an eight-week period with the goal of offering recommendations for timely results with an immediate ROI. Grey Matter Analytics also offers data monetization and management services, with the San Jose office serving as their Advanced Analytics Center, which will provide analytical services to long-standing clients and projects.
Similar to other firms in this industry, Grey Matter Analytics strives to enable enterprise clients in healthcare and financial services to gain actionable insight and make decisions to improve business outcomes not only using own data, but external data.
In an interview with the Illinois Technical Association, Ms. Talton praised Chicago as a great city to operate a technology company due to dedicated employees and an overall lower costs than Silicon Valley. She stated the two offices take advantage of unique characteristics, with Silicon Valley being the epicenter of tech entrepreneurism and Chicago currently developing its own potential.
