It’s currently a balmy 12 degrees in Chicago. Snow is in the forecast for tomorrow, maybe a lot of it. But here’s something that may help warm you up. After speculation over the weekend that the Cubs would be broadcasting many spring training games on the radio and Internet again this spring, the Cubs announced that schedule today.
Once again Chicago Cubs play-by-play announcer Len Kasper will be joined by Mick Gillispie, radio broadcaster for the Cubs’ Double-A Tennessee Smokies team. The two teamed up for the first time last year during spring training, which led to some interesting broadcasts.
According to a press release from the Cubs, a Cubs game will be available every day of spring training via one or more outlets, with 30 of the 35 games scheduled to be available to Cubs fans overall.
The 2012 spring training broadcast schedule will feature six televised games – four by WGN and two by Comcast Sp0ortsNet, 10 on WGN Cubs radio network and 20 via internet radio broadcast on cubs.com. Cubs fans can listen to webcasts for free on cubs.com and MLB.com by registering for a long-in account on the website.
Three of the first four spring training games will be broadcast on WGN ratio – Monday, March 5 against the Oakland Athletics, Tuesday, March 6 against the Colorado Rockies and Wednesday, March 7 against the Kansas City Royals. The first spring training game to be televised on WGN will be the Saturday, March 10 game against the Milwaukee Brewers. Comcast SportsNet will televise its first game on Thursday, March 22 against the Texas Rangers. A full listing is available on cubs.com.
All games start at 1:05pm, Arizona time, unless otherwise noted.
