All Rise Brewing Debut
Cobra Lounge, 325 N. Ashland Ave., Chicago (312) 226-6300
We've known that the Cobra Lounge was building its own brewery, but they've kept the news pretty quiet. Not anymore:
"We’re proud to announce our flagship Wonder Beer American Pale Ale! It will be on tap beginning this Friday at Cobra Lounge and this weekend at the Motoblot street fest on Fulton St. at the corner of Ashland Ave. The grand opening of the All Rise Microbrewery and tasting room, adjacent to Cobra Lounge, will officially happen fall 2014. Riot Fest & All Rise Brewing are crafting two select brews for this year’s festival at Humboldt Park on September 12-14. Join us this weekend as we celebrate and pour the inaugural batch of Wonder Beer American Pale Ale. Stay tuned on our Facebook page and follow us on Twitter for more info and invitations to our grand opening parties this fall!"

And as a final incentive, Quenchers is offering $1 off any of our $5 drafts to guests of Sideshow/FTBL.

10:00 am - 2:00 pm ♦ New Belgium & Publican Collaboration
The Publican, 837 W Fulton Market, Chicago (312) 733-9555
In May, the folks at Big Star and Publican Quality Meats took a trip out to the New Belgium Brewery. The idea was to craft two distinctive beers on their pilot system complementing Big Star’s Mexican street food inspired menu and Publican’s eclectic but simple farmhouse fare.
The result of this shared effort is Juvenilia and Boomhut. Boomhut is Publican’s unique sour blend riffing off New Belgium’s dry hopped sour, Le Terroir, by substituting Centennial and Golding hops to provide earthy and citrus aromas atop a juicy fruit, tart beer. You can taste it Saturday during bruch.
Already on tap is Big Star’s Juvenilia (meaning “works produced by an artist whilst still young”) is a citrusy tart white wheat beer brewed with lime zest, coriander, and Nelson Sauvin Hops. The beer is dosed with New Belgium’s own lacto creating a perfect marriage of tart and swheat with a spritzy quenching finish. It went on tap Thursday at Big Star, 1531 N. Damen, Chicago.

12:00 pm ♦ 18th Street/Jordan years Beer + Album Release
18th Street Brewery, 5725 Miller Ave., Gary, IN (219) 939-8802
18th Street Brewery will release Homemade Hustler, a new beer brewed in conjunction with Chicago band The Jordan Years. Each bottle will include a download code for The Jordan Years’ album of the same name. 18th Street Brewery will be holding a release event on at noon and the band will host its own release party at 11:00 pm tonight at Chicago’s Tonic Room, 2447 N Halsted St.
In the fall of 2013, The Jordan Years played at the grand opening of 18th Street Brewery’s Gary location. When discussing the payment for their performance, the band jokingly asked 18th Street to create a Jordan Years beer, rather than paying them in cash. To their surprise, Drew Fox, founder of 18th Street Brewery, thought it was a great idea. After a few brainstorming sessions, they drove down to Gary one Monday morning to plan the recipe and lend a helping hand while Drew brewed the beer.
The band had one request for the new beer: That its color should resemble that of the cheap beer they drank exclusively during the sessions for the “Homemade Hustler” album. Drew agreed, making sure to note, though, that the beer’s resemblance to macro brewed American lagers would end at its color. Brewing commenced and Homemade Hustler, a Session IPA, will be available to the public.
