Just a quick summary of craft beer news I've heard and not had much time to follow up on:
Following the release party Saturday evening, the IndependentBeer collective has posted their full documentary on the Festival of Wood and Barrel Aged Beer to YouTube. I have a link right here, or watch it on this page.
Hofbräuhaus Chicago will have its "soft opening" next Monday, January 21, at 5500 Park Place, Rosemont. Located in that Navy Pier wannabe called "mb Financial Park at Rosemont." This is the fourth HBhaus to open in America so far, with the original HB beers replicated on premises. Whether they will stay open the next day, or finish tooling up before a full opening, I have no info. (847) 671-BREW (2739)
After laying dormant for two years, Chain o'Lakes Brewing Company has updated their web page to indicate that they will be opening in "Spring 2013." The brewpub in McHenry would be the first pro brewing activity in McHenry County in half a century.
Off Color Brewing, the new venture by John Laffler from Goose Island and Dave Bleitner from Two Brothers, are posting pictures of the construction permit for their new brewery, and the actual construction underway. Watch the progress on the Facebook page.
Founders Brewing has announced the 2013 release of their popular Kentucky Breakfast Stout. March 27-30 has been designated as "KBS Week" by the brewery. Bottles will be sold only through advance ticket sales for those four days. Tickets are $5 with proceeds going to Grand Rapids Whitewater. KBS bottles will be $4.75 per bottle, and $19 per four-pack. Draft KBS will be tapped at Founders' Tap Room at a free-of-charge event on March 30. Bottles will then be shipped to their retail accounts on April 4. Here's the page with the info.
