The Map Room, 1949 N. Hoyne, Chicago (773) 807-2361
Allagash Brewing Company, The Bruery and Solemn Oath will be rolling out their rarest beers, two each, at the world famous Map Room. The lists aren't finalized, but our three breweries have agreed upon strict regulations as to what those beers are allowed to be with nothing that is typically available in the Chicago market. Yup, blood oath style.
Nobody knows why goats scream the way they do. It's as if they have little humans trapped inside them and we hope the discussions from this cold January night will help answer that question. Because if we can't understand why these cute little bovids call out to us like they about to be violently hatcheted to death on a mountain top, how can we truly understand ourselves?
Beer List: Allagash - TBD; The Bruery - Melange No. 3, Rueuze; Solemn Oath - TBD

The Bluebird Chicago, 1749 N. Damen Ave., Chicago (773) 486-2473

Baltic porters, Russian imperials, lacto stouts, barley wine and all interpretations thereof… This tasting is built for those that drink bold. Not bold like the beer commercials on NFL Sundays advertise, but bold like the Vikings of the North Sea. Bold like the men who braved soul crushing winters at sea by nourishing themselves with brews from the homelands. Built to fortify, these are the beverages for those who refuse to surrender to the season! Join us for dark, robust and barreled beer from some of the originators as well as the innovators. $40: tickets available on Ticketleap.com.

Goose Island Bourbon County Stout Barley Wine. Aged in the third-use barrels that were once home to Kentucky bourbon and then our renowned Bourbon County Stout, this traditional English-style barleywine possesses the subtlety of flavor that only comes from a barrel that’s gone through many seasons of ritual care.
