Join us as we host the first of many monthly Pop-up Taproom events. First up, Penrose Brewing! We’ll be pouring Proto Gradus – Abbey Single, P2 – Belgian Pale, Navette – Black Ale, Perennial & Penrose Here After – Belgo Strong with Pear.
But more than that, we’ll have Penrose staff guest bartending, glassware and lots of other touches to bring the full Geneva experience to Division street. We’ll also be launching our Brewer’s Bill of Fare menu. Enjoy 4 plates paired with a flight of 4 Penrose Beers.

A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. The process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

Dogfish Head Craft Brewery is one of our all time favorites, and we have some special treats from the Delaware beer wizards to share with you. We will be sampling some rare and hard to find bottlings, and we are firing up the Randall to infuse the 90 Minute IPA with vanilla and pipe tobacco, as well as the Aprihop with some fresh fruit.

Eventually like the rise and fall of the sun, there comes a moment where it feels right to trade in our stouts and Doppelbocks for crisp white wheats and bright, shining Saisons. It’s hard to say what’s more exciting, the end of the bitter cold or the anticipation for the warm, sunny days to come! Either way, we’re raising our glasses to a new season of beer. Join us for a casual gathering where we share beers, conversation and chef-selected plates.

Firestone Walker §ucaba: Big boozy bourbon and American oak aromas combined with soft chocolate malty undertones. Complex malt flavors framed in oak, with hints of dark chocolate, vanilla, tobacco, coconut and just a touch of dark cherry. This is definitely a sipping beer, best served in a brandy snifter. This ale pairs well with dark chocolate and sturdy cheeses

Compass Bar will host the first of many beer dinners with Artisanal Imports, Chicago's biggest importer of specialty beers from England, Germany, Belgium and beyond. Their portfolio of fine ales and lagers is broad and represents a wide range of beer styles.
Attendees can try a variety of flavor profiles alongside a family-style meal. Beers will include La Trappe Quadrupel, Tripel Karmeliet, Colorado Vixnu Imperial IPA and Meantime Coffee Porter.
Tickets will be $45 per person, not including tax and gratuity. Reservations are required and can be made by calling Compass Bar at 773.248.3230.

Catch up on some of the history of the Midwest's beer makers, from Schell's to Moody Tongue, with Locally Brewed: Portraits of Craft Breweries from America's Heartland, Anna Blessing’s book featuring selected breweries and brewpubs. Anna will will be on hand at Piece, signing discounted copies of her book. Also, Piece will have several specialty beers on tap that are rarely offered in Chicago:
Surly Pentagram American Wild Ale, Three Floyds Backmasking Oatmeal stout, Dark Horse 6 Pairs of Legs, a dark porter brewed with maple syrup and aged in bourbon barrels. Bell’s Third Coast Beer, Piece Moose Knuckle American-style barleywine aged in a bourbon barrel for a year; The Weight American pale ale; and Marketing Ploy, a collaboration with Three Floyds, an American pale ale, and more.
For any Chicagoan with a nose for craft beer, this opportunity to drink rare brews and mingle with brewers and authors surely cannot be passed up.
